Brett's Ride For Rhabdo
All proceeds benefit research and awareness for all types of childhood cancer, including Rhabdomyosarcoma (Rhabdo), a cancer of the muscle that affects less than 300 children each year. Proceeds of this event will be donated to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, specifically to the Section on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.
This year we are dedicating the ride to a youngster who died in March from Lymphoma.
His name was Jalen B. Gwaltney, and he was 14 and a 7th grader at Grandview Middle School.
Jalen was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 234 at First United Methodist Church, played the drums in the Grandview Band, and was confirmed in spring of 2007.
In 2006, while undergoing chemo treatments, he rode the 10-mile course of Brett’s Ride.
We are in the process of accepting sponsors for 2008.
